Portugal is one of the European countries that presents one of the greatest diversities and natural wealth for scuba dive, presenting a mainland coast of about 1230km, 920km of island coastline, 12 islands and 8 marine reserves and natural parks. The dive spots in Portugal are all located in the Atlantic Ocean, the least polluted on earth, where the good quality of the waters of most of the country's beaches are awarded the EU Blue Flag. The visibility of the water is generally from 3 to 15 meters (10 ft to 50 ft), sometimes reaching 30 meters (100 ft), being in the islands where the best visibilities are. The mild temperatures of these waters, which differ between 15ºC and 26ºC (60ºF - 80ºF) being hotter in the south of the continent and in Madeira and Azores islands, make it possible to scuba dive all year round. Diving in Portugal can be a fantastic surprise for those who have never been there, not only for the variety of marine fauna but also for the beauty of the seabed and the stunning scenery created by the wrecks of ships that have crossed this sea over the centuries. Different scenarios and sea creatures can be found a few hours away from each other: in the Azores Archipelago you can see manta rays, whales, dolphins and volcanic scenarios; in the Madeira Archipelago be surprised with sharks, goliath groupers, schools of fish and an exotic fauna and flora; in the mainland explore caves, wrecks of ships and many other varieties of fish. Enjoy the journey between dives to appreciate the natural beauty of Portugal, with stunning landscapes among steep cliffs, deserted beaches and volcanic peaks that will amaze you even before diving.

We have certified partners throughout the country who organize dive outings safely, to places that best fit the levels and interests of each diver and his or her group. Several attractions to explore, between caves and rocky recesses with diverse habitats, can be found both near the surface as in deeper waters. For those who have never dived, there are "diving baptisms" so you can experience this exciting activity in complete safety.
